NEW YORK (AP) — New York City is reminding a Florida-based pizzeria chain to make sure it keeps serving up a required topping -- a disclaimer saying that NYPD Pizza isn't affiliated with the New York Police Department.
The city and the Orlando-based pizza company made a 2008 agreement calling for the disclaimer and some changes to the restaurant's police-badge-like logo. But city lawyers called the chain again this week after noting that changes to its website had made the legal language difficult to see.
NYPD Pizza quickly made fixes, and the city's satisfied.
Owner and native New Yorker Paul Russo tells the Daily News he started the business as a tribute to the city. He said he sees the name as a good fit for the family-friendly eatery.
