About Coats For Kids

FOX23 News, the National Cleaners Association, Mooradians Furniture, CDPHP, and participating dry cleaners are teaming up again to help area kids stay warm this winter.

Coats For Kids is a way for you to help less fortunate kids in your community. It's very simple. Just look for the Coats For Kids poster at a participating dry cleaner and donate a gently-used child sized coat. The Dry Cleaner will accept and clean coats free of charge from October 17, 2011 until November 13, 2011. Then, the coats are delivered to a local charitable organization for distribution to those who need them. All coats collected in a particular county stay within that county.

We all feel the hardship of these tough economic times. It is at these times that those less fortunate are hardest hit. Your donation is needed this year more than ever.

FOX23 News also wants to thank Mooradians Furniture for their generous support of Coats For Kids, as well as CDPHP.

Help us to keep kids in need warm during these cold winter months!

Join FOX23 News and support Coats for Kids – an important community campaign designed to provide gently used warm outerwear to local kids in need.

How Does It Work?

The National Cleaners Association (NCA) and your local participating dry cleaner have graciously agreed to once again clean gently used kids outerwear which may be dropped off at local participating dry cleaners throughout the Capital Region.  Once cleaned, the coats will be distributed at a number of local service organizations.  Many community groups, schools, and service organizations will be conducting drives to supply coats to the dry cleaners.

Where Should I bring my Donation?

Look for the FOX23 News posters featuring FOX23 News meteorologists Steve Teeling and Jason Caterina which will be prominently displayed at your favorite local participating dry cleaner.  Or simply ask your favorite dry cleaner if they are participating or would be willing to do so.

Special thanks to the National Cleaners Association -  and to all of the participating local dry cleaners - for their generous support to ensure that kids are warm this winter!

How Can I Help?

It’s easy to get involved!  Starting October 17, simply donate gently used warm kids outerwear to your local dry cleaners.   Consider getting your neighbors and friends involved, too.  Encourage everyone you know to get participate, including your school, PTA, college, fire department, or other service groups, community agencies and organizations - encourage everyone you know to get involved!   By simply donating a warm coat that no longer fits your child, you can help to warm the heart of a local child this winter!
