WXXA Digital

Status of WXXA-DT as of 03/13/07

WXXA-DT began digital television transmission (channel 23.1) on channel 7 at a power level of 10 kilowatts average effective radiated power at 4 PM December 20, 2005.

All local programming is up-converted to a 720P HD 4 x 3 format. All Fox network programming is in the 720 HD format in 4 x 3, or 16x 9 depending on the program.

WXXA-DT also feeds a HD program stream via fiber to Time Warner Cable where it is carried on channel 1808. 

Channel 23.2 is now available and carries the programming of the VTV network with local insertions of Fox 23 News and other local programming of interest.  The VTV channel is carried on Time Warner Cable channel 423.

Any reception reports would be appreciated.

The WXXA-TV analog transmission is scheduled to cease on February 17, 2009.  Information on converting your present analog television set to be able to receive the local digital transmissions can be found at http://dtv2009.gov, or by calling 1-888-388-2009.  Two coupons worth $40 each are available for each household towards the purchase of two converters for your analog sets.  Information for obtaining these coupons is available at the site and the number listed above.
