On a good day, Kimberly Kingsland's drive to work is 20 minutes. With gas prices now hitting $4 a gallon or even higher, it all adds up.
So when she found out she would be getting an extra 25 cents an hour, it was a relief.
"It'll put a little extra money in the paycheck every week," Kingsland says. "It'll definitely help to fill the gas tank up."
The national average is $3.77 for a gallon of regular, but some of the prices in the Capital Region are well over that. Driving along Central Avenue from Albany to Colonie, they seem to jump with every station - $4.05, $4.07 and $4.09 a gallon.
"It's totally ridiculous," says Bill Cook, of Clifton Park. "It's like there's no end to it."
"I'm really annoyed," says Peter O'Shea.
And it's not just gas prices. Food prices continue their upward trend and grocery aisles are feeling it. Coffee, wheat, sugar and corn are all up.
"Ice cream and milk. We get those increases everyday so we know eventually, the price is going to have to be increased," says Stewart's Spokesperson Tom Mailey.
That means perfect timing for the company wide raise at Stewart's shops.
"We're customers too. That's what's interesting when we have gas conversations," Mailey says. "We feel it too because after work we go to the pump and fill up."
"It will help in the long run," Kingsland says.
