James Hill has joined FOX23 as a Sports Reporter, Producer, and Photographer. James made the trip up the Hudson River to Albany from News 12 New Jersey. Before News 12, James worked as sports anchor / reporter at WHAG-TV 25 in Hagerstown, Maryland, and also at WXVT-TV in Greenville, Mississippi , WPTY-TV ABC 24 in Memphis, TN and WABG-TV in Greenville, Mississippi.
James grew up in Portland, Oregon where he developed his love for sports while playing little league baseball, collecting trading cards, and attending several sports camps. From 1985 to 1988 he was a ball boy (head team attendant) for the NBA Portland Trailblazers. At age 19 Hill made history becoming the first voice of the Portland Trailblazers Hotline.
In addition to his love of covering sports, James enjoys reading, seafood dining, traveling, playing golf, and collecting sports memorabilia. In fact, during his days as a ball boy for the Portland Trailblazers James collected 180 pairs of NBA players game worn shoes, and countless autographs.
James received his BA degree in Radio-TV-Film (Broadcast) from California State University, Northridge. Hill earned a Master of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). James Hill received an award from the Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters Association for outstanding news photography in 2003.
