Paul Merrill joined the FOX23 News team in January 2007 as a general assignment reporter.

Paul was the station's lead reporter for two big national stories in early 2009:  he reported live from Buffalo after the crash of Continental Flight 3407, and also provided live reports from the scene of a shooting spree in Binghamton that left 14 people dead.

Paul came to the Capital Region from WVIR in Charlottesville, Virginia where he worked as a reporter for two years. During his time in Charlottesville, Paul was the first reporter to bring viewers the voice of a woman who received an apology letter from a man who had raped her 22 years earlier at the University of Virginia. The story grabbed national headlines and was picked up by Dateline NBC. At WVIR, Paul was also the first Virginia journalist to report from the U.S./Mexico border on the Virginia National Guard's deployment there.

Before making the jump to on-air reporting, Paul worked for nearly two years as an assignment editor at WBZ in Boston.

Paul grew up in Everett, Massachusetts and graduated from Boston University.

He comes from a long line of Red Sox fans and is happy to be a lot closer to Fenway Park. In his spare time, he enjoys music, travel, and writing biographical information in the third person.

Paul's e-mail address is paulmerrill@fox23news.com.
