The Following has enlisted NYPD Blue alum James McDaniel for a recurring role in Season 2, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Fall TV Preview: Must-watch new shows

McDaniel, who was nominated for two Emmy Awards for his role as Lt. Arthur Fancy on NYPD Blue, will play FBI Agent Ken Phillips, who heads the task force in New York City on the Fox drama. It's likely that his character will team up with Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) as a replacement for Agent Deb Parker (Annie Parisse), who was killed in the Season 1 finale.

Most recently, McDaniel played Sgt. Jesse Langford in the 2010 ABC series Detroit 1-8-7, and also has a recurring role on Orange Is the New Black.
