Jennifer Hudson may be returning to American Idol.
After news broke that American Idol may employ alumni as judges next season, Vulture.com reports that Hudson is in talks to join the show. Fox declined to comment on the report.
Hudson competed on the show in Season 3, coming in seventh place. However, she went on to win an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role in Dreamgirls.

One Idol vet you won't see? Kelly Clarkson. Despite early reports that she had been approached to join the judges' panel — Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken are allegedly on the shortlist as well — a rep for Clarkson tells The Hollywood Reporter that the "Stronger" singer will not be a judge for Season 13. Clarkson, who won Idol's first season, still ranks as one of the show's most successful contestants.
Earlier this month, The Wrap reported that all four Season 12 judges — Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban — and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe would be dropped. So far, only Jackson has confirmed his departure. In a conference call with reporters earlier this month, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly did not comment on the other three judges' statuses for Season 13, but said it was likely that Idol would return to a three-judge panel and that "everything at this point is on the table."
Do you think Hudson would be a good judge?
