The equipment used on work sites is governed by laws and regulations designed to protect workers and others at the site. These laws require certain steps to be followed to prevent or lessen injury on equipment such as ladders, scaffolds, and support equipment. Both federal and state regulations may apply to a particular situation. A company in control of any portion of the work may be responsible to an injured party if ladders or scaffolds are defective or are being used in an unsafe manner. If you have been injured on a work site as a result of defective equipment, one or more of the companies in charge of the work may be responsible for your injuries. In that event, you are entitled to compensation for your injuries, medical care, lost wages and other damages resulting from your injury. Statutes of limitation prevent lawsuits from being filed after a certain amount of time has elapsed from the time of your injury. It is important to have your case fully evaluated and investigated by someone familiar with the applicable laws as soon as possible after your injury. For more information on defective equipment, contact a qualified attorney.
