ALBANY, N.Y. – A Capital Region organization is seeking donations to help servicing the area’s homeless.

The Homeless and Travelers Aid Society is looking for donations of winter coats, boots, hats, gloves and sleeping bags. HATAS is a privately funded program and relies on donations.

The temperatures are expected to drop, and the city of Albany is anticipating calling a Code Blue from December 30 to January 4.

A Code Blue is an effort to transport and shelter the city’s homeless during extreme winter conditions. Code Blue is called when the temperature or wind chill is 10 degrees or less.

Donated items can be dropped off at HATAS at 138 Central Ave.
