ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany Medical Center is opening the doors on its new patient pavilion today.
Albany Med began construction on the project in 2011, and the expansion is considered the largest in the Northeast.
The new pavilion cost $360 million and raised the number of beds from 631 to 714. It also includes 20 state of the art operating rooms as well as a new neonatal intensive care unit with 56 new beds and private rooms.
The patient pavilion will bring in 1,000 new jobs and employed 1,400 during its construction.
The building is connected to the current hospital and to the new 1,500 car parking garage and office building.
