ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany City Council held a casino question and answer session Wednesday night that left them with more questions than when the meeting began.

Opponents are worried a casino won’t benefit the community and will bring gambling addition to the area. They are also worried about increasing crime.

Jobs are a top priority for council members. They want to make sure their constituents are a part of the project. Members asked Capital OTB if they can guarantee 1,800 permanent jobs.

The casino developers did not give a definite answers because only the casino operators can provide specifics.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan said the next step in the process is speaking directly with casino operators.

The council did not vote Wednesday night. The casino application is due June 30, but developers need support from council members.
