BERNE, N.Y. -  Parents and a fired basketball coach are still looking for answers about why Andy Wright was told he was no longer the boys varsity basketball coach at Berne-Knox Westerlo.

That's after he was removed from his position last October. It's been about three months since the school board made their decision to remove Wright after 10 years, and still no clear explanation.

However, people who live in the school district, haven't given up their fight to get Wright reinstated and learn why he was removed from coach of the basketball team.

Michael Puzulis was one of four men who handed a letter, backed by people throughout the school district and local sports community, to the school board.

Puzulis said "He would like to know why too, he has kids in this community, his family in this community, he works at this school."

Puzulis has spent his whole life support athletics at Berne-Knox Westerlo.

"My roots are here," he continued. "I was an athlete here, I grew up with people, I've lived here, I've lived here all my life."

He said he was shocked when Wright was asked to step aside.

"I was very concerned and I took it upon myself and I went and got signatures from the community," explained Puzulis.

Nearly 400 people signed the letter to the school board.

Since Wright's dismissal, the athletic director resigned saying it was because he wasn't included in the discussion to remove Wright.

"We're looking for answers about why he wasn't reinstated," Puzulis continued. "There's no reasons they don't give any reasons, all we hear is they want to go in a different path"

Both Andy Wright and the former athletic director Tom Galvin still work for the district as teachers.
