GLENVILLE, N.Y. – A Glenville Police Dispatcher helped a new father deliver a healthy baby boy on Friday.
According to Glenville Police, on Friday around 1:22 a.m., dispatch received a 911 call from an expectant father who stated his girlfriend needed medical assistance with her pregnancy.
Dispatcher Donald Gerding used his training to talk the new father through the full delivery of the baby. Authorities say the man was assisted by a neighbor as well.
The mother delivered the healthy baby boy before the ambulance arrived to the home. The newborn and his mother were taken to Albany Medical Center. Police say they are both in great condition.
Dispatched Joanne Weaver assisted Gerding during the process to ensure the ambulance and East Glenville Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.
Weaver has also assisted with a delivery earlier this year.
Glenville Police say there is no other information to be released at this time.
