SARATOGA SPRINGS N.Y. - One year after the police pursuit of Darryl Mount Jr., which lead to his death family and friends gather to honor his memory.

Saratoga Police say officers witnessed Mount assault a woman. Police say he ran from officers leading them in a chase into an alley way. Police believe Mount was injured when he fell off scaffolding, but neither officers nor cameras caught the alleged fall.

The events that lead to Mount's death remain inconclusive, though the family believes officers are at fault.

On Sunday, loved ones of Mount gathered for a memorial for in Congress Park in Saratoga Springs, where they lit candles and shared memories of his life.

"Darryl was a funny kid. He has a great sense of humor. He was a very big kid at heart," said Darryl's mother Patty Jackson.

Mount's family says police are going to stick with their story of not harming Darryl at the time of the incident, but that will not stop the family from taking action against the city. Jackson has filed a notice of claim against the city and says she will also file a formal lawsuit.

Darryl's family says they are going to keep his memory alive, and will not let anybody forget about what happened.

NEWS10 ABC has reached out to Saratoga Police for a statement, but has yet to receive a return call.
