A Fort Edward man is facing charges after officials say he was holding unsanctioned boxing events in Saratoga Springs and Lake George.
Officials say 39-year-old David Archambault, the owner of Wild Child Productions and Iron Fists MMA, held the unsanctioned boxing events at the K of C in Saratoga Springs on April 23, 2011 and another in the Town of Lake George on August 20, 2011.
Court papers say on April 23rd Archambault hosted an amateur martial arts and boxing event in which he pitted a 34-year-old man against a 16-year-old boy, resulting in a charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Authorities say the match ended in about 15 seconds when the man knocked the teen unconscious.
According to USA Boxing regulations, a 16-year-old should be allowed to box against only another 16-year-old or 17-year-old, but no one older.
Authorities say Archambault also failed to obtain the requisite sanctioning and follow the safety rules of the Athletic Commission or USA Boxing. They say Archambault allegedly failed to provide medical oversight from a physician and have a licensed referee oversee the fights.
The second event court papers source was held August 20, 2011 at the Lake George Forum. The event was called "Fight Night at the Forum" in which he solicited amateur fighters to engage in various types of fighting without approval from the Athletic Commission or USA Boxing to host boxing matches.
He has been charged with the misdemeanor offenses of unsanctioned boxing, and reckless endangerment 2nd and endangering the welfare of a child.
