GALLUPVILLE, N.Y. – A 34-year-old Gallupville man has been arrested by State Police after he allegedly removed several permanent teeth from an 8-year old.

Steven D. Walker, 34, from Gallupville was arrested and charged with two counts of felony Assault and two counts of misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The child was examined by her regular dentist who noted that three of her previously observed permanent teeth had been forcibly removed. The dentist reported the incident to Schoharie County Child Protective Services, who in turn contacted the State Police.

The investigation included victim examinations by both a State Police Forensic Odontologist and an Oral Surgeon. The mentally handicapped victim is the foster child of the defendant and was removed from the home at the beginning of the investigation.

State Police allege that the teeth were forcibly removed from the victim with a plier type implement.

Walker was arraigned and remanded to the Schoharie County jail on a $10,000 cash, $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 25.
