GUILDERLAND N.Y. – The four day State Police I-90/94 Challenge is to begin Friday.
According to officials during the challenge police will increase patrols along the 372 miles of the NYS Thruway, with the goal to reduce traffic related deaths and infractions.
Troopers will be looking out for things such as seat belt use, drunk driving, speeding and distracted driving.
During the challenge the NYS Thruway Authority will have electronic message boards up and running, reminding drivers of the different laws, such as the move over law.
The New York State Police will be joining 14 other states in the I-90/94 Challenge.
Officials say officers will be out there to educate, bring awareness and enforce the law.
The State Police I-90/94 Challenge runs from Friday morning through Monday evening, though authorities hope to carry out this campaign well after it's over.
