GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – Glens Falls native and NBA player Jimmer Fredette held his annual basketball camp Monday.
The two-day event goes from a regular camp to a three-on-three tournament. The young players get some skill lessons from Fredette on the first day. The camp continues Tuesday, and the players will compete all day.
Fredette said he loved three-on-three tournaments as a kid, and he wanted to give the future Capital Region hoopsters the same chance he had. He also said the mission at this year’s camp was about more than just basketball.
“We also want to teach them how to be good people and also teach them to be respectful to others and preach anti-bullying,” he said. “That’s a big thing that our foundation is able to do, and hopefully, we get a few kids that will listen to us.”
NBA free agency begins Monday night, and Fredette will be a free agent.
