LANSINGBURGH, N.Y. – As family and friends gathered at St. Augustine Church to honor the lives of Maria and Allen Lockrow, there was a full spectrum of emotions on Tuesday morning.

The Lockrow's are the victims of a brutal murder that happened last week in their Lansingburgh home. Police say someone forced entry into their home and a neighbor called 911 after hearing commotion coming from inside. When officers arrived at the scene, 51-year-old Allen was deceased, and 59-year-old Maria was taken to the hospital where she later died.

There are still unanswered questions as to why the murders took place so family and friends turned to prayers and to hope.

Allen Lockrow once worked at St. Augustine's Church and the couple was also married there.

On Tuesday, loved ones remembered how the couple lived, not how they died. Maria was a long time nurse who dedicated her life to servicing others. Allen was remembered as a long time city employee who loved horses and hot peppers.

The service stressed that every morning can be renewed, hoping Tuesday will be a new day for a community so affected by violence.

Investigators say they're still on the lookout for two men who took off in the couple's car. Police say the suspects were last seen taking off in a blue Ford Escape with New York license plates CKL 8018. Anyone with information should contact authorities.
