LATHAM, N.Y. - Hoffman's Playland had its last holiday weekend on Labor Day.
The Latham attraction says this could be its last Labor Day ever because after six decades of operation, the business is up for sale.
The gates opened on Monday, ready for families to spend the holiday with them. Many people celebrated the end of summer at the park.
“Closing soon, we wanted to make sure we got another trip in before its time to say goodbye,” said Colleen Speciale.
Hoffman's Playland will only be open the next two weekends, with the park closing, possibly for good, after September 14.
In the meantime, an online effort continues to at least save Hoffman's iconic carousel by putting it in another location. However, Colonie's supervisor says that would be a difficult move, considering investment costs, staffing, and finding a place to put it.
