Mother and grandfather accused of withholding food from children
SCHODACK, N.Y. – A mother and grandfather are being accused of withholding food from two children.According to New York State Police, Dana Glasser, 33, and Joseph Glasser, 61, were arrested on Saturday after an investigating into a child abuse report filed in February. The joint investigation between Child Protective Services (CPS) of Rensselaer County and State Police revealed that the pair was withholding food over a period of time from two of four children living in their household. State Police say the suspects caused “serious physical injury that created a grave risk of death,” by withholding food. Authorities say the two victims, both males are 5-years-old and were found in an emaciated condition. The boys are currently under the care and guidance of another family member and are being monitored by Child Protective Services. The remaining two children, who are females, were not injured but are also being monitored by Child Protective Services.Dana Glasser is the mother of the children and Joseph Glasser is the paternal grandfather, according to police.The subjects have been arrested on an eight count indictment, including a felony assault charge. A warrant was issued for their arrest following the Rensselaer County Grand Jury indictment that was handed up on Friday. Both subjects were arraigned in Rensselaer County Court and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 cash bail.
