ALBANY, N.Y. – On Saturday, a bus carrying eight National Guard Troops from the Capital Region arrived home for the holidays.

Loved ones cheered as they laid eyes on their National Guard heroes for the first time in 10 months. Sarah Bovee of Queensbury couldn't wait to see her husband and she ran through the doors to see him.

"I was just looking for a way to break in the door and get to him," said Sarah

As Specialist Brent Bovee collected his bags and got off the bus with his fellow members of The 222nd Military Police Company, his wife snuck up from behind.

As much as he missed his wife, Specialist Bovee had two little ones at home while he completed a security forces mission in Qatar, which was the hardest part for him.

"My kids growing up. I mean I missed a year of their lives but I'm about to make it all up," said Specialist Bovee.

He is home in time for Christmas and for him, that was enough.

"Sometimes you know physical things aren't what you want for Christmas," he said.

The Bovee's were in a hurry to get home to Queensbury, they had to finish planning a big surprise for their kids.

"They have no idea," said Sarah. "We're actually having a Christmas party tomorrow and I'm going to try to stuff him in a small box so they don't know it's him so they can unwrap it. I just hope I don't scare them to bad."

The Bovee's say they will also be taking the honeymoon they never got to take while home.
