One man shot in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -  Schenectady Police are investigating a shooting that happened on Saturday evening.

According to police, officers reported to the area of 1685 Van Vranken Avenue around 9:30 p.m. for several calls reporting shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers say they found a male on the ground who appeared to have been shot in the torso one time. 

The victim, Mervin Bingham, 22, was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Medical Center. He has undergone surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.

Police say there is no suspect information at this time. The department is investigating the shooting.
