Pharmacy technician accused of stealing prescription drugs

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. – Rotterdam Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly stole large quantities of prescription drugs.

According to authorities, Ronald Talbot Jr., 27, was arrested on Sunday following an internal investigation by CVS Loss Prevention and the Rotterdam Police Detective Division.

Talbot had been employed as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS Pharmacy in Rotterdam for over eight years, according to police. He is accused of stealing large quantities of Alprazolam, also known as Xanax, and Viagra, after police say they found the pills in Talbot's home. Police say the thefts took place over the course of the past year.

Rotterdam Police say the value of stolen prescription drugs totaled over $62,000.

He was arraigned on the charge of felony Grand Larceny 2nd and misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. He was then remanded to the custody of the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities day Talbot stole 20 bottles of Alprazolam 2mg, 10 bottles of Alprazolam 1mg, two bottles of Alprazolam 3mg, one bottle Alprazolam .5mg, eight bottles of Viagra 50mg, 50 bottles of Viagra 100mg, and one bottle of Azithromycin.
