ROOT, N.Y. – State Police say they arrested a man who punched a Trooper who was attempting to restrain him.

State Police in Fonda say that on Friday, November 8, they responded to assist an ambulance with a combative subject.

As Troopers arrived on State Route 5S, the back door of the ambulance was open and personnel were trying to restrain 40-year-old Jeremy Harrington.

A Trooper then assisted by trying to restrain Harrington, however the man then punched the Trooper on the right side of the face.

According to authorities, Harrington was then tased and restrained on the gurney. He was then taken to St. Mary's Hospital.

He was later arrested for Attempted Assault in the 3rd Degree and Disorderly Conduct.

Harrington was arraigned in town court and remanded to Montgomery County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

The Trooper was not injured.
