SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Princess of Sylmar is a Spa favorite, and her trainer discussed her strategy for Friday’s race.
Princess of Sylmar is owned by Schenectady native Ed Stanco. Stanco said the horse runs better at Saratoga, and her trainer Todd Pletcher agreed.
Pletcher discussed Princess of Sylmar’s strategy for Friday’s race.
“Well, I think we hopefully will be in a stalking-type position where we can keep an eye on close hatches and some of the other ones,” he said. “It’s a deep race, qualified field. The main thing is we want our filly to run her race and duplicate what she did here last year.”
Princess of Sylmar won two Grade Ones at the Spa last year – the Coaching Club American Oaks followed by the Alabama.
Friday will be the fifth head-to-head graded stakes race between the horse and Close Hatches.
