ALBANY N.Y. – Pushing for better bus safety, the New York Association for Pupil Transportation is calling for legislation that would put cameras on the stop arm of school buses.
The group says if a driver were to pass a school bus either from the front or rear the camera would record the act, then notifying law enforcement.
Stop Arm Cameras would help prevent drivers from illegally passing stopped school buses, knowing that a camera would be recording. This would give bus drivers a peace of mind with getting children home safely.
There will be a press conference about the issue Tuesday morning at 9:30 in Albany’s Legislative Office Building.
