SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Despite Tuesday's bitter cold, the First Night festivities has gone on as planned in Saratoga Springs.
Organizers say there will be no changes due to the weather, but they are bringing in a portable heating unit. It'll be stationed on Broadway in front of Saratoga Arts.
People were bundled up with earmuffs, scarves and had coffee in hand as First Night Saratoga quickly filled up indoor venues to escape from the bitter chill.
"A lot of venues are mapping it all so it's close together," said Nikki Fillipone.
There were 35 vendors in total, all indoors and many filled up to capacity quickly
Chris Law said "We have our nephew in from Florida. My two little ones always want to come down see the Beatles Band. We're going to walk around for a while check out the performances."
Law and his kids are also bringing in the New Year with style with their flashy 2014 glasses.
While some fought the cold though, others embraced it.
‘Yeah, I love the cold," said Zack Morrison.
Organizers say the first couple of years, 15,000 people made it out to first night but the colder the temperatures sometimes mean the fewer the crowds.
Joel Reed said "We're staying warm up at First Night rather than worry about the cold."
