TROY, N.Y. – A shooting took place Tuesday evening in Troy.
The shooting took place just before 6 p.m. at the corner of 8th Street and Jacob Street.
One man was shot, according to police.
“Lying on the ground,” Troy Police Captain Jude Baker said. “Upon arrival our patrols found a male victim. Early thirties, I believe.”
Police said the man suffered at least one gunshot wound. The Troy Fire Department treated him on the scene before he was transported to Albany Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
Detectives searched the scene and scrutinized evidence left behind.
“We’ll hold the scene as long as we think there’s anything here of evidentiary value,” Baker said. “Our detectives are working the scene. Our patrols are canvassing the neighborhood and whatever leads we do have now, they’re working on them as we speak.”
The shooting is an active investigation. Police believe it was targeted and not random, but it is too early in the investigation to know if it is gang related.
