ALBANY, N.Y. - As temperatures continue to fall in the Capital Region, and throughout the country, heating systems can break, leaving some in the cold.

In the thick of winter, some may call Michael Wheeler their hero.

Wheeler is a home heating repairman and for heating and cooling, he's on call 24/7 to rescue homeowners like Jonathan Olson.

"Came home from work, turned the heat on normally. The clicks never clicked on.," said Olson.

Without heat in freezing temperatures, with a wife and little daughter, Olson needed his thermostat to work again.

Wheeler said when your system gets overworked; air bubbles build up in the system forcing it to no longer to circulate.

"When it's very, very cold outside, if they're running at peak capacity, if they're going to fail, that's when they're going to fail," explained Wheeler.

So far this winter season, Wheeler has rescued a couple dozen homeowners from having to sleep through the night in freezing temperatures.

"Every time the weather drops a lot the calls go up," said Wheeler.

Wheeler recommends listening to your heating system and addressing any issues by calling in the professionals before it's too late.
