STEPHENTOWN, N.Y. - The trial of a Stephentown man accused of an alcohol-related crash that killed his best friend back in June 2012 opens on Monday.
Brendan Hoffman, 21, is facing counts of homicide, manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, and leaving the scene of an accident.
The crash happened in the early morning hours of June 28, 2012, in which Hoffman was driving on Cranston Hill Road when he crash his car, allegedly causing the death of his passenger.
Police say that while someone drove Hoffman to the hospital for treatment, his best friend Christopher Baker, 24, was dead or lay dying for hours near the site of the crash in Stephentown.
Hoffman did not tell anyone until hours later that Baker had been with him.
Police say Baker had been ejected more than 100 feet from the wreckage, where his body was found nearly four hours after the crash.
