GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Two men are still on the loose after fleeing from Green Island Police Saturday night.

Police believe they may be part of a shooting that took place in Troy.

Troy Police received calls for shots fired around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of Hutton Street and Old Sixth Avenue.

Contractor Ranard Stevens was working late inside the Quick Shop Deli Grocery on Sixth Avenue when he heard the shots. One of the bullets went into the back of his vehicle.

“I was up on the ladder,” he said. “The store was crowded at the time and all of a sudden we heard six shots of off. I paid it no mind until I heard a shot hit my car.”

No one was injured in the shooting.

Neighbors said they saw two cars involved in the incident chasing one another. A vehicle matching the description of the car that fled from the shooting scene was found speeding through Green Island.

“After the vehicle stop, he detained the driver right away and found a couple of fire arms in the vehicle,” Green Island Police Chief Christopher Parker said.

The driver was 18-year-old Rayquan Murphy. Three other men were in the car with him and took off running.

Troy Police Captain John Cooney said the Troy Police Department assisted Green Island in the search for the remaining three men.

“As it turns out the occupants fled,” he said. “If we think of the alternative that’s a good thing. Green Island put out a dragnet with the assistance of Troy, and then we called in the state police.”

Police searched for nearly two hours only finding and arresting 20-year-old Aquell Tarver. Both Murphy and Tarver received several charges, including criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

The investigation is ongoing; however, police believe Murphy and Tarver are connected to the Troy shooting.

Police are asking for help in finding the two men that got away. If you have any information contact Green Island Police.
