WHITEHALL, N.Y. - Police have arrested a Whitehall man for allegedly driving drunk to a fight with another man with four children in the car.

Whitehall Police say 28-year-old Gregory Matteson, of South Williams Street in Whitehall, was arrested after police were called to check on the welfare of a family after neighbors observed fighting.

Matteson allegedly went to a West Street home where he threatened another man with a knife and left the area. When police found Matteson, they found he was under the influence of alcohol, with a B.A.C. of .23%.

Police found he had been driving in this state with a total of four children in the car, ranging from 9-months-old to 5-years-old.

He has been arrested and charged with Menacing 2nd-degree, Driving While Intoxicated, both misdemeanors, and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger, a felony.
