Diana Domingo of Open Voice Studios is one of this year's judges for the local auditions for season two of The X Factor. Diana joined Stephanie Grady live on FOX23 News in the Morning to share some tips on what the judges are looking for in this year's contestants and what the contestants should know before showing up for the auditions.

FOX23 and FLY92.3 are giving you a chance to win a guaranteed audition in front of The X Factor show producers at the Providence, RI auditions May 10th, 2012. Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to $500 for each *winner.
Come audition LIVE at Huck Finn’s Warehouse April 28th, 2012. Online registration has started!
Sing alone or with a group. 4 lucky winners will receive guaranteed audition passes for the Rhode Island auditions. One winner per category will be chosen to attend.
The X Factor Categories:
Girls 12-29 years old
Boys 12-29 years old
30 years old and Over
Groups (all ages 12 and above)
*A group counts as one winner and will receive up to $500 in travel expenses, you must be 12 years old as of January 1, 2012to audition.
- All contestants must register online prior to the event. Groups register under one group member’s name.
- Go to fox23news.com/xfactor to register no later than 5pm, April 27, 2012.
- Contestants attempting to register after 5pm on April 27, 2012 will not be eligible to audition on April 28, 2012.
- Arrive at Huck Finn’s Warehouse no later than 9am Saturday, April 28th for your **chance to audition in front of our local judges. (Please allow time for traffic and parking)
- Auditions will be held from 9:00am - 1:30pm.
**The LIVE local auditions will work using a lottery system. Everyone that registers online by 5pm on April 27, 2012 will be divided into the proper category. Contestants will be drawn at random throughout the auditions. You MUST be in attendance at the time your name is drawn or you will forfeit your audition. Due to limited time, registering and attending does not guarantee you an audition.
Don’t get passed over at the local auditions because of time. Submit a video for a chance to win a guaranteed local audition:
- Submitting a video does not take the place of online registration. You must register before submitting a video.
- Submitting a video will give you an opportunity to guarantee yourself a live audition at Huck Finn’s Warehouse on April 28, 2012. It does not take the place of a live audition. To win this contest, you must audition live.
- You do NOT need to submit a video to audition live; it is a way to win a guaranteed audition.
Please submit a 20 second video of you or a group singing a cappella style by midnight on April 23, 2012. Video submission is located at the bottom of this page. The top 12 videos will be selected by a team of judges. Those 12 people or groups will be guaranteed an audition spot at the local auditions held April 28th. Submitting a video does not guarantee you an audition in front of our judges. Videos submitted may be played on FOX23 News in the Morning and will be available for viewing on our website. If you submit a video and are not selected as the top 12, you are still invited to attend the local auditions as a contestant!
How the live auditions will run:
Register online by April 27, 2012 at 5pm. The audition spots will be chosen at random. Five contestants per category will be chosen at a time. Your name will be called out and you will be asked to come to the waiting area. There, you will fill out a complete registration form and release form. The auditions will be filmed and uploaded to fox23news.com. (You can opt out of having your video on the website)
A parent or guardian must accompany all contestants under 18 years old. If a parent or guardian is not present, a signed copy of the release form must be brought to the audition.
You or a group will sing, a cappella style, in front of our local judges. Due to the limited time for the audition you will not be able to sing an entire song. Everyone will be cut off once the judges have heard enough. This is not a reflection on the quality of your performance.
At approximately 12:30 the finalists will be announced and asked to sing again for the judges. Please be prepared to sing two times, as you may be a finalist! The winners will be announced after the final rounds.
The auditions are taking place outdoors in the parking lot at Huck Finn’s Warehouse. Please dress for the weather and bring your own folding chairs. There is a Subway Sandwich Shop located inside Huck Finn’s Warehouse. You are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages. No glass, please.
Many will attend the local auditions and the time is limited. You are not guaranteed an audition by attending. We will do as many as time allows. Thank you for understanding.
