There's nothing like being home for the holidays, but for some flood victims, that may not be an option.

In Rotterdam Junction, the Serapilio family worked day in and day out since Irene to make sure the holiday dinner could be cooked in their kitchen.

For Arnold and Camille Serapilio, it’s a day they thought may never come. Thursday was an emotional homecoming, as they see their house rebuilt and filled with family for the first time since Irene nearly washed it away.

The work started about two and a half months ago.

The family made a decision to have their mom and dad back home for the holidays.

They captured it all on home video - the setbacks, the milestones, the finishing touches, and finally a very special Thanksgiving dinner.

Lock Street was one of dozens of neighborhoods impacted by Irene.

Unfortunately, there is much more to do in communities across the Capital Region.

If you would like to get involved in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts, see the links below.
