The group, mainly representing CUNY and SUNY, started in the War Room and made their way down the hall to the governor's office -  to protest budget cuts to schools.

Any hope the group had of getting inside the Executive Chamber was dashed, as they came face to face with state police. One by one, those who would not get up and leave were arrested. All together 33 were charged with disorderly conduct.

Gov. Cuomo's budget cuts funding for CUNY senior colleges by $70 millions and SUNY by $100 million.

FOX23 News spoke with one teacher as she was being cuffed and led away. She says she was willing to get arrested for the sake of her students - many of them working their way through college and struggling to make ends meet.

With the budget due at the end of next week, protestors say they're hoping to get through to lawmakers, some of whom, including Bronx Democratic Sen. Ruben Diaz, were joining in on the sidelines.
