GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – A local market and landmark is closing its doors after 65 years in business.
Customers arriving at Gruelich's Market on Monday found a darkened store with locked doors.
Gruelich's was known as the little shop on Carman Road with the painted cow on its roof, and since the 1950's, it's boasted a quality butcher shop and offered local produce and baked goods.
But, customers have noticed significant changes over the past couple of weeks; dwindling products and shelves removed from the floor.
The owner, Bonnie Gruelich says the store fell into financial straits over the past year while she was away from the store caring for her ailing mother.
Gruelich says she is hoping to re-open in the fall, perhaps with a new business partner.
