SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. -  A Rensselaer County official was in court Monday night, facing felony charges after police say she defrauded at least two people in Schaghticoke residents.

Monday night is the first time Marcia Doyle, 49 is in Schaghticoke Town Court since she was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny and Scheming to Defraud at least two people out of $34,000.

Doyle is accused of stealing money from two Schaghticoke residents during the beginning of 2011.

It has been less than a week since officials announced charges were brought against Doyle.

Doyle appeared in court for a status hearing, after more than a year-long investigation conducted by the New York State Police.

Police say Doyle would promise people good investments with a short turn around and high return, but ultimately they would get no return.

She is an attorney and has a prior professional relationship with the Rensselaer County District Attorney, because of that, the Albany County DA has been asked to step in to prosecute the case.

While there are only two people named as complainants, State Police investigators believe more charges will likely come with addition complainants.

NEWS10 ABC requested an interview with Doyle last week when we learned of the charges, but were asked to leave her property. On Monday, we requested another interview with Doyle, but she refused.

The case is now being moved to Federal Court in Rensselaer County. No new court date has been set. Police are still asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Doyle's to contact State Police in Brunswick at 279-4427. This is because authorities have said this case involves many victims.
