CHATHAM, N.Y. - State police are investigating a one-car accident on the Berkshire Spur of the New York State Thruway Saturday afternoon that resulted in six persons being injured, including one critically.
The vehicle, a 2000 Dodge Caravan being driven by Marialena Young, 37, of Newton, MA, lost contol while traveling westbound on I90 in the Town of Chatham and rolled over several times before coming to rest in the median.
A passenger, Elizabeth Tyler-Penny, 50, of Brookline, MA, suffered serious head and internal injuries. She was transported to Albany Medical Center and was listed as critical.
The driver and the other four passengers, all children, were also transported to AMC with what is being described as non life-threatening injuries.
One of the children was transported by Life Net helicopter with a leg fracture.
Chatham Tri-Village Fire Department responded along with Chatham, Greenport, Valatie, and Bruen ambulance squads, who transported five of the injured persons. No arrests were made and the State Police are continuing their investigation.
