BENNINGTON, Vt. - A Boa Constrictor snake has returned to its owner after being found slithering on the streets of Bennington this week.
The snake, named "Boaz," is seven-feet-long and all muscle, and was loose in Bennington for six weeks until two days ago when a local reptile lover took it in.
Boaz escaped from a homemade outdoor enclosure at its owner's home when the owner was transferred to a job in South Carolina.
Luckily for the snake, Paul Restino came across Boaz wandering loose on Elm Street this week and handed it over to his son Nick Restino, who owns several reptiles.
Nick Restino has been caring for Boaz since Tuesday, and was able to track down the snake's owner after a story about the loose snake was published in the local paper. The snake returned to its owner on Thursday.
Residents say there was some concern for other animals in the neighborhood after the recent story of two Canadian boys who were asphyxiated by a python that escaped a pet shop in their apartment building.
