MALTA, N.Y. - Authorities in Saratoga County have confirmed that the body found in Ballston Spa is a woman who went missing while rafting in a creek with her family.
Around 10:15 a.m. on Monday, authorities confirmed that an adult female body was found in the Kayaderosseras Creek.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says the body has been identified as 52-year-old Diana Henderson of Milton.
Henderson was located on a point of land between Malta Avenue and Northline Road, which had been exposed as the waters of the creek receded after flooding over the weekend.
Crews have been searching for Henderson since Friday. Officials say she was rafting with her husband and three children on the creek when strong currents caused the group to miss the point where they wanted to get out.
The husband and children were able to make it out of the raft. However, the woman’s raft capsized and she was swept downstream. She was not wearing a life jacket.
Search and rescue crews began combing the creek on Friday night. The search continued throughout the weekend but had to be called off for a period of time due to high water.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted throughout the search effort by the New York State Forest Rangers, Environmental Conservation Police, New York State Park Police, Ballston Spa Police Department, Ballston Spa Fire Department, Malta Ridge Fire Department, Arvin Hart Fire Department and Malta-Stillwater Ambulance.
