WYNANTSKILL, N.Y. -- At Wednesday night's Board of Education meeting in Wynantskill, Superintendent Dr. Lisa Henkel announced her resignation.
Henkel has resigned after teachers and parents called for her termination over a month ago.
In June, the Wynantskill Teacher's Association issued a resolution of no confidence in the superintendent. The resolution was passed with a vote of 28 to 1, requesting the Wynantskill Union Free School District Board of Education take immediate action to end Henkel's employment.
Parents soon voiced their opinions, calling for her termination during a July 11th school board meeting.
A short time later on July 30th, the school board voted quickly and unanimouslyto hire two independent consultants to tackle their concerns. The consultants were to look into human resource complaints, as well as special education and the district's response to intervention.
