LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. – Locals find ways to escape the cold.

The 2013-14 winter has been filled with snow and subzero temperatures in the Capital Region, so many residents have escaped to local attractions to escape the cold weather

The indoor water park at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge is just one place some people like to go.

“It’s brutally cold,” patron Paul Angioletti said. “I’ve got three kids; another one on the way. We were looking to get out of our house.”

Patrons said it was a great place to take a mini summer vacation in the middle of winter.

“Cause I don’t have to do anything except float around,” Angioletti continued.

The park includes a kiddie pool and no sign of snow anywhere.

“It’s summer all year long,” patron Rebecca Close said. “A constant 82 degree temperature.”

Residents can also enjoy indoor golf at Indoor Adventures in Ballston Spa.

Patron Tom Robinson likes to escape the “brutal” winter with the simulated game.

“It’s a much more traditional winter for Upstate New York,” he said.

Indoor Adventure is a site that provides a simulated golf game on over 80 courses .

Whether it’s in water or on dry land, Capital Region residents have found ways to stay warm.
