ALBANY, N.Y.— NEWS10 ABC on Fox23’s Jennifer Lee shared her frozen car troubles are ice took over the Capital Region.

With all four doors frozen solid, when attempting to open the door and warm up her car, the door handle broke off.

Jennifer went to Albany Light Truck and Car Repair to get some tips on how this can be prevented in the future.

Joe Gentile, owner of Albany Light Truck and Car Repair, said only a couple of products are needed to avoid this type of problem.

"You can get a match and heat your key up but not too hot," said Gentile. If that doesn't work, Gentile said using an ice scraper is the next best option.

Gentile commented that every car is different and to be patient.

The cost to fix the door handle was about $100.
