COLONIE, N.Y. – A Colonie man was arrested early Saturday morning after a standoff with Colonie Police on Consaul Road.

Police responded to 89 Consaul Road for a report of a female that had been stabbed in the home shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Authorities were notified that a male was armed with a shotgun and knife, threatening to harm everyone in the residence.

As police arrived, the suspect exited the residence and was armed with a long gun. Police say the man ignored a number of commands to drop the weapon. However, the suspect pointed the long gun at nearby officer and a Patrol Sergeant fired one shot at the man. The shot missed the man and he entered the residence.

According to authorities, the suspect refused commands to surrender and the Colonie Police Special Services Team (SWAT Team) responded.

Police say that a short time later, the father and girlfriend of the male suspect exited the home. The father was uninjured. However, the girlfriend suffered from three small stab wounds to the leg. She also had contusions to her face and head. She was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Residents on Consaul Road were evacuated to the Midway Fire House or sought shelter in their basements as the standoff continued.

Colonie Police say negotiators tried to contact the suspect by telephone but were unsuccessful.

The SWAT team used tear gas and the subject exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident.

The subject has been identified as Timothy Anatriello, 24, of Consaul Road. He has been charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, two counts of Unlawful Imprisonment in the 1st Degree, all felonies. He also faces Assault in the 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, and two counts of Menacing in the 2nd Degree, all misdemeanors.

Consaul Road between New Karner and Watervliet-Shaker Roads were closed but have since reopened.

The Colonie Police Department was assisted by Colonie EMS, Midway Fire Department, New York State Police, Niskayuna Police and the Guilderland Police.
