TROY, N.Y. – Community members attended the Troy City Council meeting Thursday to fight to keep a local charter school open.

A state committee decided to close Ark Community Charter School on River Street. Concerned community members came to the council meeting with signs in their hands to call on the city council to pass a resolution demanding an investigation into the decision.

The Ark school has more than 200 students and about 30 employees. Parents spoke about the personalized attention and care their children receive at the K-6 school.

The school is scheduled to close after the 2013-14 school year. It is unclear how much influence the resolution will have on the decision.
