ALBANY, N.Y. – After a 21-year-old man pleaded guilty to one count of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, the Albany County District Attorney urged parents to keep kids safe, especially around Halloween.
District Attorney David Soares says Walter Cleveland, of Albany, pleaded guilty to intentionally committing criminal sexual acts against a child under the age of 11 by use of forcible compulsion.
Cleveland admitted to the felony charge which stems from an August 14, 2012 incident which took place around Lincoln Park in Albany. Two citizens witnessed the incident, which involved an 8-year-old boy, and contacted 9-1-1 which led to Cleveland's arrest.
He faces up to 18 years to Life in State Prison when he is sentenced on December 5th.
Soares stated "With Halloween this week, I encourage parents to make a safety plan to ensure the safest route possible when their children are out trick-or-treating. One way to do that is to utilize Offender Watch, a searchable database where users can search for convicted sex offenders who reside in their community."
