Tonight the lights at the future Dinosaur BBQ restaurant are off, the doors are locked and the city is quiet. But local businesses and people who live in Troy are looking forward to when that will change and the city fires up the grill and some more business.
"The Dinosaur Pit is going to be great to bring families back and the younger population," said Regina Canzeri, the owner of Troy Treasure Chest downtown.
She has big hopes for her new store.
"We wanted to be part of the revival of downtown Troy," she said.
Recent news that Dinosaur BBQ is on its way to town is adding to that energy.
"It's the one thing that's going to catapolt us forward and build on what we have and really make us shine," saud Elizabeth Young with the Troy BID.
Tonight the Troy Planning Board unanimously approved Dinosaur BBQ's final proposal to turn a vacant restaurant into it's own. Also on the agenda was a multi- million dollar development plan.
"Looking to expand what we think of as traditional downtown Troy and bring new restaurants and business to downtown Troy," said Young.
It's all news that local businesses and residents are happy to hear.
"There have a been a lot of things done in the last ten years that have been great-something that would add to that would be great," said Bonnie Hagan of Troy.
"Right now it's trying to get it all turned around and get people to see what Troy has to offer," said Jessika Powell of Troy.
They said that more development will bring more economic opportunities and more appeal.
"If you want to take a nice stroll after dinner were are in a great location for that so I'm hoping it's going to bring families down and the younger population," said Canzeri.
