MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.Y. – An investigation has led to the arrest of a father and his two sons believed to be connected to a string of burglaries.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says they have been investigated John Michel, 56, Jonathan Mickels, 29, and Joshua Mickels, 32, for six months. During the investigation, investigators were led to believe the father and two sons have been responsible for about 30 burglaries in 4 counties.
According to authorities, the burglaries took place in Montgomery, Otsego, Herkimer, and Schoharie Counties.
Investigators executed a search warrant and recovered items including long guns, a wood splitter, jewelry, a chainsaw, crystal, change and a bow with arrows.
The Montgomery County and Otsego County Sheriff's Offices have been working on this case with the NYS Police from Fonda, Herkimer, Cobleskill, Richfield and Princetown. They believe more arrests are likely.
The three men have been charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, both felonies.
